Top Ten

Ahh I’ve been a busy, busy bee! Last minute shopping here, brunch with friends there, family dinners everywhere. It’s getting hard to keep up. Nonetheless I figure I’d do a quick post about staying healthy over the holiday season because why wait for the new year?

To start, the top ten foods to keep you beautiful inside and out.

1.Wild Salmon: for those of you who haven’t heard, this food is a beauty miracle.
This food is one of the best sources for omega-3 fatty acids, which gives your skin a nice “glow” by keeping it supple and moisturized. The vitamin D in salmon will give your teeth and bones a nice strong boost also!
You want to look for wild salmon, not farm raised. Say you don’t like fishy foods? No problem, look for an omega-3 supplement so that you can still reap the benefits.

2. Spinach: Upgrade your salad to spinach from its nutrient empty (and bland) iceburg lettuce and enjoy some pretty awesome perks. Spinach is loaded with lutein, which keeps your eyes healthy, sparkiling, and bright.

3. Tomatoes: tomatoes are the best source of the anti-aging antioxidant lycopene. Believe it or not, this fresh fix is best absorbed when it has been cooked down orprocessed so add a can of tomatoes to your pasta instead of sodium packed sauce.

4. Walnuts: Enjoy their many benefits: smoother skin, healthy hair, brighter eyes, and strong bones. Get your daily dose of nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E by eating a handful by themselves or throwing some in your salad, pasta, or dessert.

5. Dark Chocolate: Dark chocolate helps skin stay hydrated and protects skin from sun damage, and contrary to popular belief, chocolate does not cause acne. Just make sure its at least 60% Cacao.

6. Yogurt: low fat yogurt is great for your posture, nails, and teeth. Make it Greek and you’ll even have fresher breath (it neutralizes bacteria in your stomach that can cause bad breath). Just make sure not to get overly-flavored super sweet or fruity kinds. Toss a bit of plain with fresh fruit and a little granola or honey to sweeten it up!

7. Cilantro. Cilantro has the ability to remove heavy metals that enlarge fat cells from your body. Enlarged fat cells increase the appearance of cellulite, making this common seasoning a great beauty food for your whole body.

8. Edamame. Edamame and other non-processed soy foods are rich in isoflavones, which help to preserve skin-firming collagen. So, eat this sushi bar appetizer for youthful looking, wrinkle-free skin.

9 Purple cabbage. If you’re worried about wrinkles, eating lots of purple cabbage is the way to go. High cortisol levels in the body can cause crows feet and other wrinkles. Purple cabbage is both anti-inflammatory and rich in vitamins A, C, and E—which all help to lower cortisol levels. So next time you’re chopping up a salad, add some purple cabbage to your mixed greens.

10. Honey: great for anti-imflamitory properties. Can be used on your face in a skin care regimine or mask or ingested. Honey is amazing I just love it! You can really use it for just about anything.
